Everyone involved in the cleanup must take safety precautions to reduce the chance of becoming ill from one or more of these health conditions.
Please remember anything touched by sewage is contaminated. It must be treated as soon as possible.
Solid surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned with hot water and detergent and then rinsed before drying. These surfaces include:
◾Linoleum
◾Hardwood floors
◾Ceramic tile
◾Concrete
◾Wood moldings
◾Wood
◾Metal furniture
Porous materials most likely will need to be disposed of. These materials usually include the following:
◾Carpeting
◾Carpet padding
◾Rugs
◾Drapery
◾Drywall or Plaster and Plasterboard
◾Lath
◾Hardwood flooring that has been saturated
◾Insulation
Once all the sewage has been extracted and the property has been sanitized a drying system will be installed to dry out the area. This usually includes industrial air movers, and dehumidifiers.
